After Light by Liu Liling

An Exhibition by Liu Liling
Curated by Cheong Kah Kit
24 February – 28 March 2024

Mizuma Gallery is pleased to announce After Light, a solo exhibition by Liu Liling, curated by Cheong Kah Kit.

Liu Liling’s practice revolves around light. She is interested in how we encounter and receive light, and how our bodies move in and around it. Developed through a series of prints as a site-specific encounter at Mizuma Gallery, After Light is a continuation of these interests.

Working between photography and installation, Liu conceives her prints as objects, constantly shifting our attention between the visual and the physical. Her layered prints are developed through repeated experimentation and accumulation of inaccuracies and incidentals via her subtle manipulation of ink and printing processes. When presented as a site-specific installation, the prints extend themselves into the exhibition space, gently probing viewers to move and ponder their visual and spatial experiences.

An encounter of these works is an experience of images, light, and space.
After Light is an invitation to reflect on the relationship between seeing and sensing.

After Light will run from 24 February to 28 March 2024 at Mizuma Gallery, 22 Lock Road #01-34 Gillman Barracks, Singapore 108939. The gallery will open from 11am-7pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, and 11am-6pm on Sundays. The gallery will be closed on Mondays and Public Holidays. In conjunction with the launch of the exhibition, a vernissage in the presence of the artist and the curator will be held on Saturday, 24 February 2024, 3pm to 7pm. A digital publication with images of the artworks and a conversation between Liu Liling and Cheong Kah Kit will be available.
