​Shui Tit Sing (1914–1997) was a significant artist and educator active in both China and Singapore during the mid-20th century. His career spanned the turbulence of war and migration, encompassing a diverse practice in oil, watercolor, ink, and woodcut. For decades, his name all but disappeared from the narrative of art history—until recent years, when his contributions began to be re-examined by scholars and the public.

​In this lecture, art historian Koh Nguang How will lead the audience back to the world of Shui Tit Sing, tracing his artistic journey from the golden years at the National Art School in Hangzhou, to his life and work after moving to Singapore, and his role in the “Ten Men Art Group.” The talk will not only map his artistic trajectory and historical impact, but also present a wealth of never-before-seen manuscripts, letters, and rare photographs that reveal the depth and breadth of his creative life.
