Artist Talk & Publication Launch: The Art of Lee Boon Ngan: Celebrating 60 Years of Singapore through the Love of Chua Mia Tee & Lee Boon Ngan
Following the book The Art of Chua Mia Tee: A Portrait of a Life’s Work (2018), The Private Museum is pleased to launch a companion publication that provides a glimpse into the story of Lee Boon Ngan—artist, mother, and lifelong partner to Chua Mia Tee.
While her husband Chua Mia Tee is widely recognised for shaping Singapore’s visual identity through his realist paintings, the new book centres Lee’s artistic journey: the exquisite flower paintings she was widely lauded for, and her unwavering commitment and dedication to family, nation, and art.
Together, the two publications provide a unique biographical window into the shared lives and parallel practices of a distinguished artistic couple in Singapore, featuring rarely seen portraits of their children and grandchildren—offering an intimate view into the private world of a family bound by art.
The publication The Art of Lee Boon Ngan: Celebrating 60 Years of Singapore through the Love of Chua Mia Tee & Lee Boon Ngan is set to be unveiled on 16 August 2025—honouring six remarkable decades of love and legacy, in celebration of our nation’s 60th birthday.
