Curated Encounters: Bras Basah Complex
This tour is led by artist and curator Daniel Chong. Hidden within the iconic Bras Basah Complex lies a vibrant community of galleries. Led by a new wave of second-generation gallery owners, the trail explores how tradition and innovation quietly evolve. At Converge Gallery plays host to Nyan Soe’s solo exhibition Imprints of Fleeting Splendour: Fragments of a Floating World. Beginning with the tradition of seal carving, the exhibition transforms bronze seals into sculptural objects and prints. Across mediums, the works reflect on the traces we leave behind. Continuing just next door, Sims Galleria, witness a live demonstration of coloured Chinese ink painting by master artist and founder Adam Shen Xudong. Understand not just the techniques, but the philosophy behind coloured ink that has become a hallmark of the gallery’s programme. The experience will conclude with participants taking part in a guided hands-on Chinese ink session, applying these principles as they create their own artwork.
