About Artwork

The artwork “I See Possibilities” holds personal significance to me, as it emerged from a moment of profound introspection. As I found myself at a crossroad of life, grappling with uncertainties and changes, I found myself drawn to the creation of a portrait with flowers covering the subject’s eyes—an embodiment of the barriers we often place upon ourselves, blinding us to the endless possibilities that surround us. As I immersed myself in the creative process, each layer of colour and texture became a journey of transformation and acceptance of change. With every stage of the creative process, I peeled back the layers of apprehension and disquiet, allowing the vibrant hues of the flowers to burst forth, possibly highlighting the boundless potential that exists within every challenge, our determination to seek out the best even at the worst of our times.

Artist Profile

“To live without hope is to cease to live” as stated by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky the famous novelist, in a way summarises the vibrant and captivating artworks created by Babita. As an abstract realism artist based in Singapore, her creative journey started much later in her life, about 5 years after she quit her successful corporate life to being a present mom for her kids. Recognizing her deep passion for artistic expression, her self-taught journey brought these bold and colourful abstract creations to life. In addition to participating in various local exhibitions around Singapore, this year she has also displayed her artworks internationally as part of World Art Dubai in May 2024. She is actively involved with the Mama on Palette community who are a group of mamas passionate about arts, aesthetics, and mental wellness as well as "Arts for a cause" group where a percentage of artwork sale proceeds are donated towards charitable causes.

Her uniquely characterised abstract artworks inherently carry a distinctive strength displaying resilience and fortitude in their attitudes thus promoting a sense of hope for everyone. Skilfully employing a variety of mediums such as oils, acrylics, pastels, textures, and spray paints, Babita brings her abstract concepts to life. She hopes to tell a story that invites viewers to recognise the complexities of their emotions, fostering a connection between the artwork and their own inner worlds, helping them rediscover the hope embedded in their dreams and imagination. To her the canvas is an emotional landscape, a playground where the intangible finds expression in hues and textures. Colours laid down carry the weight of unspoken stories and the energy of untold emotions with every brushstroke being a deliberate choice, a nuanced conversation between her internal dialogue and the evolving canvas.
