These tours are led by artist and curator Daniel Chong. a series of guided gallery trails exploring the many sides of Singapore’s art scene. The tours take you beyond the usual art destinations in Singapore and into the different neighbourhoods shaping the local art scene. 4 trails, 4 perspectives, and countless ways to encounter Singapore’s art scene.

Clarke Quay Tour | 16 & 23 Aug 2026 | 2 – 3.45pm
Discover the evolving landscape of Asian art through two distinct galleries in the Clarke Quay precinct. Starting at Confluence Art Space, a special solo exhibition of works by Singapore master Chua Ek Kay, The Quiet Revolutionary. The exhibition features both his iconic ink paintings and a selection of rarely exhibited works. Through a sharing by the gallery owner, audiences will gain personal insights into Chua Ek Kay’s artistic practice. Continuing along the river to Art ImA, where the group exhibition Beyond the Horizon: Hope presents contemporary works by mid-career South Korean artists and local emerging artists exploring themes of optimism. Hear directly from two participating artists, Ye Min Khant and Sparkle Sun and learn directly about the ideas behind their works. *This programme involves light walking, with short outdoor stretches between gallery venues.

River Valley Tour | 22 & 28 Aug 2026 | 4.15 – 6pm & 3.15 – 5pm
Discover how art galleries sit alongside vibrant neighbourhoods. Starting at JW Projects explore the vivid yet poignant works of Weijue Wang. Using wool fibre she uses its softness to explore the possession and lack of rights in women’s gender roles through a range of mediums. Appearing sweet and soft, they are filled with traces of violence alongside their more public personas. A short walk away at STPI, experience the surreal universe of Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho. Drawing on street art, graffiti and comics, his masked figures and hybrid creatures transform everyday observations into playful critiques of identity. Grounded in everyday encounters from his residency at STPI, STRANGE MONSTER VIEW casts Eko’s wry eye to Singapore – from tourism, architecture and culture to our increasingly screen-driven lives. *This programme involves light walking, with short outdoor stretches between gallery venues.

Bras Basah Complex Tour | 29 Aug 2026 | 2 – 3.45pm & 4.15 – 6pm
This tour is led by artist and curator Daniel Chong. Hidden within the iconic Bras Basah Complex lies a vibrant community of galleries. Led by a new wave of second-generation gallery owners, the trail explores how tradition and innovation quietly evolve. At Converge Gallery plays host to Nyan Soe’s solo exhibition Imprints of Fleeting Splendour: Fragments of a Floating World. Beginning with the tradition of seal carving, the exhibition transforms bronze seals into sculptural objects and prints. Across mediums, the works reflect on the traces we leave behind. Continuing just next door, Sims Galleria, witness a live demonstration of coloured Chinese ink painting by master artist and founder Adam Shen Xudong. Understand not just the techniques, but the philosophy behind coloured ink that has become a hallmark of the gallery’s programme. The experience will conclude with participants taking part in a guided hands-on Chinese ink session, applying these principles as they create their own artwork.

City Hall Tour | 5 Sep 2026 | 2 – 3.45pm & 4.15 – 6pm
This tour is led by artist and curator Daniel Chong. Explore how galleries sit in the heart of the city through immersive installations and a diverse range of sculptural practices. Beginning at LOY Contemporary Art Gallery on Armenian Street. Join Akai Chew in experiencing his solo presentation Fragment of a Story, an immersive installation. Presented in conjunction with the Singapore Night Festival, it draws inspiration from the Malay Annals, the exhibition reinterprets historical narratives through a contemporary installation. The trail continues with a short walk to Ode to Art, with a dynamic presentation of international sculptors and installation artists. Distilled into the practices of Patrick Rubenstein, Paul Russo, Lee Gil Rae and Adi Gunawan. Learn how their practices scale from a collectors’ home to monumental placemaking public artworks.

About Daniel Chong
Daniel Chong (b. 1995, Singapore) is an artist-curator whose curatorial approach grows from the curiosities within his artistic practice. His projects are often sit outside institutional exhibitions and span unconventional spaces. He was awarded the Curator Open Call award by Objectifs in 2022 which culminated in an exhibition Sugar pills for a bitter world. He has curated exhibitions such as Exposure_Exposure (2026) an outdoor exhibition outside of Objectif, Bad Imitation (2022) at Tanjong Pagar Distri-park. As well as looser frameworks such as Stranger(’s) Touch (2022), an art project under the guise of a beauty brand. Continuing his exploration of unconventional spaces, he is currently curating a project at Golden Mile Tower and producing an exhibition at Bras Basah Complex.
