Soft Infrastructures
Soft Infrastructures brings together a group of Singaporean and Asian artists, presented by leading Singapore-based galleries, whose practices explore the systems – technological, social, mythological and physical – that shape lived experience and cultural imaginations. Spanning installation, sculpture, textile, photography and print, the work of these artists converge at the intersection of speculative world-making and tactile transformation. Though diverse in methods and geographies, the visual languages of Sunaina Bhalla, Mike HJ Chang, Joanne E-Lynn Lim, Shayne Phua, anGie seah, Suzuki Shin, Brandon Tay, Xie Aige and Yao Xiaoyao elude rigid frameworks and engineered certainty, embracing instead porous architectures of being. Each artist in this exhibition probes the scaffolds that sustain or mediate our realities.
