(Re)discovering Shui Tit Sing
Solo Exhibition for Shui Tit Sing
This project aims to present the artistic legacy of Shui Tit Sing (1914–1997), a pioneering figure in post-war Chinese art education in Singapore. Since the 1940s, Shui was actively engaged in both artistic creation and teaching in the Nanyang region, serving as a crucial link between traditional Chinese fine art and the modernisation of Southeast Asian art. However, his contributions have long remained overlooked in Singapore’s mainstream art history. This exhibition is advised by Koh Nguang How, a respected art researcher who has studied Shui’s work for over a decade. By presenting Shui’s artworks alongside rare archival materials, the exhibition seeks to reconstruct a more complete and pluralistic narrative of Singapore’s art history.
