Set in a 1930s raised Peranakan terrace house in the historic and cultural enclave of Katong, this visit reveals a couple whose lives, shaped by diplomacy and global travel, are quietly reflected in a collection built on friendship rather than strategy.
Humbly noting, “We don’t consider ourselves collectors”, they have nonetheless assembled a rich array of works with artists such as John Clang, Han Sai Por, Heman Chong, and emerging talents they supported long before wider spread recognition. Many works were discovered at galleries like FOST and Art-2 when it was at the Substation, and at events such as local art and design art fairs like the Singapore Clay Festival. Others have come through their engagements with artists and charity endeavours.
This is not a typical collector’s home, but rather a living archive of stories, each artwork and object a souvenir from friendships, diplomatic postings, and moments of discovery. Every piece is a memory.
Their collection stands as a portrait of generosity, cultural exchange, and an enduring belief in the power of creative connection.
