About Artwork

諧 (Harmony) is a painting that features ostriches—Kotaro Fukui’s most prominent motif and what he’s predominantly known for. It was when he started painting ostriches that he felt, for the first time, the joy of painting.

“…I was conflicted, in a way, about painting. But that sense of conflict disappeared when I started painting ostriches. I found myself able to paint naturally and with remarkable ease.” – Kotaro Fukui
